Van de Graaff generator is an electrostatic generator which uses a moving belt to accumulate very high electrical potential on a hollow metal sphere on the top of the stand. This model may be operated in electric motor mode or hand cranked to illustrate that the charge produced is nothing to do with the mains power supply. Produces large sparks in excess of 100mm.
